KIS STUDENT COUNCIL
WEEKLY UPDATE
2.11.10
2.11.10
The meeting today lasted for 30 minutes. It was opened 11:50, and closed 12:20.
*
The leader of the student council, Helge Bjørløw, opened the meeting with the following cases:
Road duty
Gunhild had 5 to 6 members when the meeting started, but several persons in the student council has decided to attent the road patrol, so Gunhild will be able to give us more information about the road patrol for the next meeting. If you as a MYP-student would like to join the road patrol, please find Gunhild or Kristina in MYPC shortly.
School prom
Due to the circumstances, there has not been done anything for the prom yet.
I will check this with ms. Hege Myhre for next time, and get back to you with more information then.
Help with homework from the diploma students
The letter is written, but not sent yet.
Hopefully, this is sorted out for the next meeting.
KISLO
KISLO has got 3 new members, and are now totally 6 persons.
The poster is now up, as KISLO promised us last time - well done!
The poster is now up, as KISLO promised us last time - well done!
KISLO will hopefully have more exciting news for us all next week:-)
Ski-day
Aurora and Andrea have made question forms that MYP have filled out, to get information in order to make a budget.
The budget is not ready yet. A lot of the students have already bought access to the ski-center for the whole winter, and can use their own card on the ski-day.
Most of the students (only 10 does not) have their own equipment for a ski-day - and 6 have extra equipment - so there will be minimal renting costs for equipment.
The price is 280.- nok. pr. person under 16. We will check if the age is OK for all the D-class-students.
Aurora and Andrea will make a budget, and mail it to Kjersti, Helge and me, so we can get a better picture over the costs etc.
A cross-country ski-day will probably be arranged for the whole school as last year, and KSC will probably arrange this day.
Tou will receive more information about this later.
"Crazy days"
Guri Kristine and Signe will send a mail to ms. Hege Myhre about this very soon, this has not been sent yet.
We will hear more from Guri Kristine and Signe next week.
Posters from Indivion Security
No options are available at the moment, but the student council will stay in touch with the company in case there should be options in the future.
Securitas does not longer have this solution, and is no option for us.
D-class does not like that the C-class now are allowed to go out in lunch
Almost the whole D-class (except Arman and I) does not like that the C-class suddenly are allowed to go out in lunch. One other student in the D-class would not like to express h*s opinion.
The D-class says that this used to be a privilege for the D-class only, and that this is not fair.
The D-class says that this used to be a privilege for the D-class only, and that this is not fair.
The student council asked Birgir, a member of the student council from the D-class, that voted against C-class going out in lunch about the reasoning for this.
The student council concluded that this case not was brought to the previous principal last year. The D-class keeps their rights, even though the C-class is granted the same permission.
A lot of the student council members thought of this as selfishness from the D-class, and there will be made no changes to the already existing plan.
The case was discussed seriously to make the details around this clear.
If the D-class should have any more problems with this, they can write a formal letter to the principal, ms. Catherine Jolly, regarding the issue.
Let me point out that I, as a D-class-student, think it is great that the C-class get this permission, as long as the D-class rights doesn't change. On a school as small as KIS, the classes needs to cooperate, and not work against each other!
Ms. Kjersti Weeden continiued with the meeting, and other cases:
Webpages for the student council
I will try to arrange websites for the student council, and work together with mr. Andrew Gregory, as well as ms. Weeden to sort this out as soon as possible.
We will come back to this next week:-)
Education exhibition in Oslo in February
Kjersti will check out if some persons from the student council can attend an education exhibition in Oslo in february, since the school does not have educational choices in the timetable.
Kjersti will check this out for the next meeting, and come back with more information to us all then.
Economy-responsable person(s) in the student council
Isabella and Oda may share this responsability for the student council.
Ms. Weeden will check the bank account for the next meeting.
Idea collection for the student council
Isabella presented her idea that the student council should collect ideas during assemblys, via mail/electronic, and possibly in a mailbox easily available on the school.'
We will check this out for the next meeting.
Ideas for the student council can be sent to kis-sc@hotmail.no, and will be delivered to ms. Weeden and the student council leader, Helge, very shortly, and will be brought up in meetings.
GOOD LUCK TO THE C- AND D-CLASS WITH THE OVERNIGHT STAY TOMORROW! :-)
This was all for this time.
Enjoy the rest of the week!
