12.10
Hi everybody!
This is the minutes from the student council meeting today.
The meeting was opened 11:50, and was closed at 12:15.
Ms. Weeden started with some general information about the school traffic patrol and KISLO. Gunhild will start her work on the traffic patrol, and the KISLO student council members will start their work very soon.
Karina presented us some ideas from her class that she had collected from classmembers of her.
Karina presented the following ideas:
- The whole MYP should be allowed to leave school during lunches, and not just MYPD.
- More and new footballs and basketballs.
- Help with homework in lunches for all subjects.
- Support for OpenOffice-files when handing in electronic documents.
For Karina's ideas, the following actions has, or will be, taken:
- Helge has, with support from me, already written a letter to the principal regarding MYP leaving school in the lunchbreaks. The letter has been sent during the vacation, and has not been replied to yet. The student council will keep you up to date in the next weekly update, 19.10.10.
- The libary has been open in the lunchbreaks for quite some time, as well as the maths homework club on fridays during lunch. Oda will write a letter to the diploma, to see if any of the diploma students could be interested in helping students in homework during lunchbreaks. I will write you more information about this as well in the next weekly update.
- OpenOffice can save files in the .doc-format as well. Last year, student could download Microsoft Office Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc. free from the student website. The student website, which I made for the students last year, worked very well as long as Ms. Sanderson Swartz was principal, but the websites was shut down a month after she left the school. I will try to make this offer available again, but I can not promise anything yet. You can read more about this in the next weekly update. Mr. Gregory will be informed about the OpenOffice document support problem by another member of the student council shortly.
We discussed what we should do with the area where the hill is today, after the hill is removed. We came up with different ideas, but did we not decide anything, and did not make a conclusion. We might bring this up later.
Another member of the student council asked about the result of the schools volleyball court, which has ended up like a huge sandbox for the PYP.
We did not go any further on this subject, since the volleyball season is over anyway.
Ms. Weeden will check the economical status of the student council, and see how much money the student council can use. The cakesale list is now approved by the principal, but the principal want other alternatives than just cake. Because there is no kitchen, neither not any heating facilities, at school, we have decided that we will come back to the alternatives later.
Last, ms. Weeden told us about her plans for making smoothie and sell this at school for the benefit of the student council. I will get more information from ms. Weeden about her plans, and give further information in the next weekly update.
Ms. Weeden will not be able to attend the student council meeting next week, but we will have a meeting leaded by Helge, the student council leader.
Ms. Weeden will make a list of things we can bring up during the meeting.
The next student council meeting is tuesday 19th of October. You will all receive a new weekly update then.
